Digital Channels Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services. The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Updates Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Stories One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
